About Twin House Music

Twin House Music was founded in 2018.  We are a repair forward leaning shop and are building and rekindling music store relationships in the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area and beyond.  We love playing music as much as you do and make it a point to provide gear that is of the quality that you need for where you're at in your musical marathon. From beginner to boutique and new to used, we make sure every instrument and accessory we sell is something that we would purchase ourselves.  We work hard to create and maintain a store environment that is safe and free from all prejudices, and our honest staff will not leave you feeling swindled, discouraged, or disrespected.  Every repair gets a free inspection on intake and then handled as if it is our own.  Every instrument we sell (new & used) includes a free setup, so each one will play the best it can before it leaves with you.

Stephen Mooneyhan

Stephen has been playing drums for 20 years, and only recently started wearing earplugs. He has been working at the shop since late 2019, and has worked in music his entire adult life between booking, promoting, venue management, teaching, and retail, all while playing in as many bands as he can handle.

He manages the website and online sales side of the store, and is always happy to chat about the weirdest pedals and gear in the shop and help you find the gear that matches the sounds in your head.

You can see him playing in a number of bands, including Geeked, Night! Night!, and Hot Brains, among others.

His desert island piece of gear is a pair of Promark Attack 5A Drumsticks, because just about anything can be percussion if you hit it the right way.

Spencer Lee

Spencer Lee has been making noise with whatever he could find for longer than he can remember, but began playing guitar in 1999 and bass a few years later.  In his teens he started playing in punk bands and slowly expanded into metal, noise, drone, and avant-garde styles.  His taste in gear has followed suit, tending toward gear that promises maximum volume, full frequency response, and maximum versatility to create music that constantly shifts between dissonance and harmony.

True to form, Spencer is our amps and effects guru, specializing in building, tweaking, and troubleshooting "the rig".  He's always happy to help you find that piece of gear to delve deeper into the weird, or just to help you rock that much harder!

See him performing with MAKE, Vanishing Point, and Warka.

His Desert island jammer is a Hiwatt DR103.

Robert Chamberlain

Robert Chamberlain is a multi-instrumentalist who enjoys worsening his tinnitus with drums, synthesizers, and guitars. In addition to specializing in those instruments, he can also talk your ear off about effects pedals, as he spent most of his time during the global pandemic (circa 2020) making spaced-out ambient music.

He still creates synth-laden ambient tracks under his own name, and is 1/3 of the local post-rock group Slow Teeth.

If Rob were stranded on a desert island, and the island were properly electrified, he would almost certainly be taking a Korg Minilogue XD.

Eric Degenhardt

Eric has been working on guitars almost as long as he’s been playing them. After learning a few chords he took his first guitar apart to make it sound better and hasn’t stopped since. From his time in retail, repair, and production he offers a well rounded reference to solve problems.

When he’s not in the shop you can catch him writing songs and playing with his band.

His desert island piece of gear is a Martin 000-18.
